We are pleased to share the progress of the modernization of a 100-year-old roof at the Alstom Polska production hall – one of the oldest railway vehicle factories in Europe, located in Lower Silesia. The company is a key producer of railway vehicles, including innovative and environmentally friendly electric locomotives, and a supplier of the most advanced railway solutions worldwide.
APP-Projekt is managing the project, which involves replacing the old concrete roofing and steel skylights filled with reinforced glass with modern, lightweight materials. This will reduce the load on the hall's structure, improve the use of natural light, and enhance ventilation through the installation of new, lightweight, automatically opening skylights. The new roof will also contribute to energy savings by reducing the need for heating in winter and cooling in summer, while eliminating the problem of leaking skylights that previously affected production processes in the building. At the same time, the aging structure of the hall will be relieved.
The renovation will solve the issue of leaking skylights, which negatively impacted the production processes in the hall. The modernization works are taking place in an active manufacturing plant.
The current project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
The general contractor is Exbud Kielce, and the design work is being carried out by Poltebud Wrocław.
